At Canright, our inspiration presentations are often about books, but we’re particularly excited about this one that Collin presented on Monday: Manage Your Day-to-Dayfrom Behance publishing combines quite a few of our obsessions into one gorgeous book.
Manage Your Day-to-Day is published by 99U — the “missing curriculum” for creatives from Behance, dedicated to making ideas happen — and a wonderful example of what happens when brands and creatives get together with meaningful content. It’s a beautifully laid out book with advice that is sometimes a little too close to home (who hasn’t felt that, though?). Collin focused on the email productivity section, and we discussed the difficulty of passing up all those “distracting opportunities”.
“If you’re like me, you have far too many things you want to do, read, see, test, and experience. Your inbox is a treasure trove of possibilities. To a creative mind, that’s very enticing. It’s easy for an optimist to keep fifty, a hundred, or even a thousand emails hovering in their inbox in the hopes that, someday soon, they’ll get a chance to give each opportunity the precious time that it deserves. But guess what? That’s never gonna happen” – Aaron Dignan
It’s always difficult to be reminded that inspiration is, in fact, only 1% of the process. The rest is the work of getting it done. A real must-read for all those hard-working creatives out there who feel like they’re inexplicably treading water, this book acknowledges our universal challenges and offers practical advice for (you guessed it) “making ideas happen”.
