Email and Online Readability

This email from Fair Isaac, with its blue background and white text, reminded me of online readability. Closing on 25 years ago, I  began my career at Chicago-area-based Keycom Electronic Publishing Co., as a news editor for the Keyfax online news service. Consumers were to access news and entertainment with their TV sets as monitors at the fantastic speed provided by a 1200 baud modem.

Keycom research showed that white text on a blue background was easiest to read, especially on the relatively low-pixel resolution of a TV screen. Looking at the FairIsaac email, I find it’s still true.
